1. Water
At Elite Minerals, we are dedicated to responsible and sustainable mining practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements in all our activities while preserving the local environment for our host communities and future generations. Our operations are guided by a precautionary approach to environmental management, aiming to minimize our environmental impact and ensure overall environmental responsibility. We are committed to:

• Proactive environmental stewardship with due care
• Maintaining local water quality and sustainability
• Reducing clean water flow into the plant
• Maximizing water re-use in our processing plants
• Polishing waters through settling and clarification before discharge
• Strictly avoiding the use of chemicals in any form

2. Rehabilitation and Next Land Use Planning
At Elite Minerals, we are dedicated to responsible and sustainable land use and mine-site rehabilitation, integrating these practices into our mining process. Our initiatives include:

• Progressive rehabilitation of pits and dams through backfilling
• Strategic pit sequencing to enable backfilling and preparation for alternative land uses, in collaboration with our stakeholders.

By adopting this approach, we aim to minimize our environmental footprint, restore ecosystems, and create opportunities for post-mining land uses that benefit local communities and the environment.

3. Health and Safety
At Elite Minerals, we prioritize the safety and well-being of our employees, recognizing that job-related injuries and illnesses are preventable. Our core values drive our commitment to ensuring all employees return home safely at the end of each workday. We have made significant strides in reducing our injury frequency rate (IFR), achieving a remarkable decline from 3.0 per quarter in 2014 to 0.3 injuries per quarter currently.

Additionally, we have demonstrated our dedication to employee health by enrolling all staff in the National Health Insurance Scheme since 2014 and other private health insurance schemes, covering major and common illnesses. This initiative has yielded impressive results, with a substantial improvement in employee engagement levels. We remain steadfast in our pursuit of a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.

4. Community Responsibility
At Elite Minerals, we are dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of our host communities. Our Community Relations Unit (CRU) collaborates with local clinics and CHIPS compounds to strengthen healthcare delivery and capacity. We are committed to building strong, respectful relationships with our host communities, recognizing each other’s rights and working together for mutual benefit.

Through the Town Development Committees, we partner with communities to drive long-term development and economic growth. We prioritize local recruitment, with over 50% of our workforce comprising unskilled labour from host communities, as per our CSR Agreement. This binding agreement ensures we meet both medium- and long-term community needs, fostering a sustainable and prosperous future for all.”
